Stage of the Camino de Santiago: Alhandra to Azambuja

Start of the stage: Alhandra
The stage begins in  Alhandra, a picturesque town to the north of Lisbon, marking the start of a segment of the  Camino de Santiago full of charm and beauty. From the center of Alhandra, the pilgrim follows the established  routes , crossing its peaceful streets before venturing into rural landscapes. The journey begins along  Rua Duque de Terceira, crossing the town center until reaching the paths that bring the pilgrim closer to nature.

Route towards Vialonga
From Alhandra, the  route heads north towards  Vialonga, a small village located just a few kilometers away. This section follows paved roads, so it is important for the pilgrim to remain cautious due to traffic on the  M-50. Despite being close to more urban areas, the landscape is pleasant and offers a panoramic view of the rural surroundings.

Peaceful path towards Azambuja
As the pilgrim moves away from Vialonga, the stage leads into a quieter environment, with rural roads and small secondary roads. The  route becomes more relaxed and pleasant, allowing for enjoyment of the natural scenery and the serenity of the Portuguese countryside. This section of the Camino offers a more leisurely experience, ideal for appreciating the peaceful journey towards  Azambuja.

Points of interest and landscapes
During the  Alhandra to Azambuja stage, pilgrims can enjoy beautiful rural landscapes, crossing small paths and secondary roads. The Tagus River and its natural surroundings offer spectacular views that invite reflection. Additionally, the route passes near small villages that provide the opportunity to pause and learn about the local culture.

Arrival in Azambuja
The stage ends in  Azambuja, a welcoming town located near the Tagus River. It is a perfect place to rest and enjoy the local cuisine before continuing to the next stage of the  Camino de Santiago . Azambuja, in addition to being a resting point, holds great historical and cultural value, making it an interesting stop for pilgrims.
