Stage of the Camino de Santiago: Sebrayo to Gijón

Start in Sebrayo: From the Road to the Villages
The Camino de Santiago on this stage begins in Sebrayo and heads towards Villaverde. About 500 meters before reaching this village, the path veers left, ascending towards the small hamlets of Fresno, La Cuesta, and El Sello. From here, the pilgrim descends to the Miyares Stream, where the Fountain of the Pilgrims is located, a traditional point of interest on this route. The path then passes near the hamlet of La Estrada.

Through Santa Eulalia de Carda and Arriving in Villaviciosa
After passing through the parish of Santa Eulalia de Carda, the pilgrim joins the N-632, entering Villaviciosa through the Les Caleyes neighborhood and La Magdalena street. The Camino runs alongside the Valdediós River, passing through the Alameda Park and reaching the first houses of Amandi, dominated by its Romanesque church. The Camino then connects with the Villaviciosa to Infiesto road and diverts toward La Regatina, crossing the Valdediós River via the San Juan Bridge.

From Villaviciosa to Casquita: Route Split
The path continues towards La Parra and connects with the AS-113 (Villaviciosa-La Secada), then turns right onto the VV-10 (towards Rozadas). In Casquita, the San Blas Chapel marks the split between the routes leading to Gijón and Oviedo. Pilgrims heading to Gijón continue along the left bank of the Valdediós River, crossing it and advancing towards El Mayorazgo. The Camino ascends to Las Vallinas and then takes the road to Peón, reaching the La Cruz Pass.

Descent and Ascent to Gijón: From Peón to Deva
From the La Cruz Pass, the Camino descends through the Peón Valley, winding down the slope to ease the incline. It is recommended to follow the road to Casamori, passing through La Venta and crossing the España River via the Llantao Bridge. The pilgrim crosses Santiago de Peón and takes a steep path to the Curbiello Pass, where a magnificent panoramic view of the coast and the municipality of Gijón can be enjoyed.

Deva to Gijón: Last Kilometers of the Camino
The Camino continues its descent to the parish of San Salvador de Deva and the Mirador, crossing the AS-331 to reach the N-632, near the Deva Camping. The pilgrim passes through Santa Eulalia de Cabueñes, Las Cruces, and other nearby points, including the Universidad Laboral. Next, the path heads towards Villamanín, San Julián de Somió, and reaches the road to La Guía and the Puentín over the Piles River.

Entering Gijón: End of the Stage
The final part of the journey enters Gijón via the Carretera de la Costa, reaching the Puerta de Begoña. From here, the Camino heads towards Avilés, passing through El Natahoyo, Cuatro Caminos, and La Calzada. The arrival in the city of Gijón marks the end of this stage of the Camino de Santiago. Many pilgrims, upon reaching the town, will head to the old town and seek shelter at the Hospital de los Remedios in Cimadevilla.
