Stage of the Camino de Santiago: Llanes to San Esteban de Leces

Introduction to the Stage
The stage from Llanes to San Esteban de Leces offers pilgrims a combination of stunning coastal landscapes, tranquil villages, and a route full of history. This stage is part of the paths leading to Santiago de Compostela, allowing travelers to enjoy the natural and cultural beauty of the Asturias region.

Llanes: Starting Point of the Route
The stage begins in the town of Llanes, known for its charm and impressive coastline. From here, pilgrims follow the Camino path, leaving behind the bustle of the town to enter more peaceful and natural landscapes. The journey begins with a route leading to Poo and then to Celorio, two small coastal villages that invite reflection.

From Celorio to Barro and the Niembro River
The path continues towards Barro, and shortly after, the Niembro River is crossed via a bridge. On the left, the Capilla del Santín marks the way forward, while an ascent to the Cuesta de Niembro takes pilgrims to the next destination: Amelladero. The climb is rewarded with beautiful views and the sense of peace that defines this part of the route.

The Monastery of San Antolín de Bedón
Pilgrims continue their route, crossing the Bedón River, a natural landscape that leads to Naves and Villahormes, two charming Asturian villages. After passing through the town of Villahormes, pilgrims reach the Puente Huergo, which crosses the San Cecilio River and marks the proximity of Nueva, another village on this stage of the Camino.

From Nueva to Piñeres de Pría
From Nueva, the route continues along the AS263 road, a little-traveled path that offers a more peaceful hiking experience surrounded by the green landscapes of Asturias. As pilgrims proceed along this route, they reach Piñeres de Pría, a small rural village marking the next stop on the journey.

Toriello and Ribadesella: Encounter with the Coast
After crossing the Aguamía Bridge, the route takes pilgrims to Toriello and the Portiello, where stairs lead to the town of Ribadesella. This coastal town, famous for its fishing port and natural surroundings, is an excellent place to rest before continuing on.

From Ribadesella to San Esteban de Leces
After passing through the Arenal de Santa Marina, the path continues along the edge of the beach and passes through residential areas such as the Astursella development and the Los Sauces campsite. From here, pilgrims ascend towards the San Pedro neighborhood and continue climbing until they reach the Leces neighborhood, the final point of this stage of the Camino de Santiago.
