Distance20 Km.

Departure from Amenal: Bordering Villages and Ascending Towards Lavacolla

The Camino de Santiago continues around the village and, after covering 2.3 km, reaches Amenal. Here, the Camino crosses the road again and enters a street that quickly becomes a lush green corridor. From there, the path continues to Cimadevila, where an ascent begins along a forest trail that leaves the Lavacolla airport to the left.

Ascent to Monte San Marcos

Two kilometres from Cimadevila, the path reaches the N-544 and descends to the San Paio turnoff. Upon leaving, another road is crossed, and after travelling 1 km, the village of Lavacolla is reached. From here, the path descends to the bed of the Lavacolla river, crosses the road, and begins the ascent to Monte San Marcos.

Arrival at Monte do Gozo: The City of Santiago in Sight

1.5 km from Lavacolla, passing through the village of Vilamaior, the path passes in front of the TVG and TVE headquarters. Shortly after, the village of San Marcos is entered, located on the Monte do Gozo, from where the city of Santiago de Compostela is already visible.

Entering Santiago: From Monte do Gozo to the Obradoiro Square

From the Chapel of San Marcos, and leaving the Monte do Gozo pilgrims' complex to the left, the path descends to the N-544, which leads to the San Lázaro Quarter, passing by its church.

The path continues towards the Fontiñas Industrial Estate, crosses the Barrio dos Concheiros and the Rúa de San Pedro until reaching the Porta do Camiño. After passing through Rúas das Casas Reais and das Ánimas, the Plaza de Cervantes is reached. Finally, the path continues along the Azabachería street, passing beneath the Archbishop's Arch, until it reaches the iconic Plaza del Obradoiro, where this stage towards the Compostela concludes.
