Distance20 Km.

Camino de Santiago: From Zubiri to Pamplona

The Camino de Santiago continues its journey after crossing the access bridge to Zubiri, heading towards the Osteriz road. After passing the magnesite factory facilities, the pilgrim leaves the road to descend to the right and ascend once again towards Ilaraz.

Ascent towards Esquíroz

Upon reaching a fountain, a small road is taken leading to an old church, which is left to the right. From there, the path continues to Esquíroz, where a new section begins.

Route towards Larrasoaña

From Esquíroz, a path is taken that soon veers to the right edge of a meadow. After passing some agricultural buildings, the path reaches the road, crossing a bridge over the Arga River, about 150 metres from Larrasoaña.

Path towards Aquerreta

In Larrasoaña, a bridge over the Arga River is crossed, and the pilgrim turns right, taking an asphalted road leading to Aquerreta. From there, a narrow path descends to cross a local road, passing through a meadow and a small beech forest. The path continues descending to the left bank of the Arga River, following its course until reaching Zuriáin, where the river is crossed.

Continuation towards Ilurdoz

From Zuriáin, the pilgrim walks along the C-135 for about 500 metres before leaving it on the left side, taking a local road towards Ilurdoz. Upon arrival, the river is crossed by the Anchoriz bridge, and a path follows the mountain along the Arga River until reaching Iroz. From there, the river is crossed again, and the pilgrim returns to the C-135, which is left at Zabaldica.

Route Options: Mountain or Slope

From Zabaldica, the pilgrim has two options:

  1. Ascend towards the higher part of the mountain, passing by the electricity transformers.
  2. Continue along the slope of the mountain, passing by the farmhouse of Arleta.

Both routes meet before a embankment that must be skirted. Then, a tunnel beneath the N-121 road is crossed, and the journey continues along an asphalt track that skirts Miravalles Mountain.

Path towards the Basilica of the Holy Trinity of Arre

The path leads the pilgrim to the Basilica of the Holy Trinity of Arre in Villava, after crossing an ancient bridge over the Ulzama River.

Entering Pamplona

In Villava, the pilgrim continues along the Main Street until reaching Pamplona. A right turn is made, a road is crossed, and the pilgrim continues through the Magdalena neighbourhood. From there, Pamplona is entered via the Magdalena Bridge, where a cross is erected.

Urban Route towards Cizur Menor

From here, the Camino de Santiago continues to skirt Pamplona’s walls, crossing them through the Portal de Francia. The pilgrim arrives at the Pamplona Cathedral, and the route continues through the streets of Curia, Mercaderes, the Town Hall square, and the streets Main and Bosquecillo. After crossing the Avenue of Sancho el Fuerte, the Iron Fountain, and the University Campus, the Sadar River is crossed, and the ascent to Cizur Menor begins.
